Trip to the Milwaukee Art Museum

The Burke Brise Soleil of the Santiago Calatrava designed Quadracci Pavillion at the Milwaukee Art Museum (MAM) is one of my absolute favorite things to photograph. I have hundreds of photos from the outside, but relatively few from the inside.

Recently, I went with a group of 14 people to the MAM to see the Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit. Unfortunately, photography was not allowed inside of the exhibit, but I was able to get some pictures of the pavillion.

Here they are…

Thank you! I have always found it captivating. I would love to take some photos at dusk or later!

Making the trip to the MAM is definitely worth it.

I would suggest trying to go right at sunset. The colors filter through the glass really nicely and you get a nice reflection off the water (when facing east). It’s pretty majestic but also classy when the orange of the sun clashes with the modern white of the interior. Try it out! I’d be curious to see what you think.
